BIGGEST LITTLE WEEKEND

Friday, January 29, 2016

It's another beautiful weekend in Northern Nevada/Northern California.  Skiing..sledding and snowshoeing abounds because we have had a great winter with fantastic snow.  It is also a break in the football action in this house - so I am looking forward to some peace and quiet and quiet and peace!!  Enjoy!

WHAT'S COOKIN....

Cassoulet

Continuing my love affair with all things French - this great recipe for Cassoulet is on the weekend menu.  There are a million ways to make a true French Cassoulet - all which include fresh herbs, white beans, and meat.  The usual meat suspects are pork, chicken, or lamb.  I love the Spanish Chorizo in this one - it is..well..different.  Cassoulet is French peasant food and is warm, earthy, and satisfy.  Perfect for another snowy weekend.  Find the recipe HERE

French Lentil Salad with Goat Cheese and Walnuts

Yes - lentils are my current addiction.  This salad is perfect for Winter because it is hearty and rich and just so tasty.  I am not one to order a salad as a main dish during the Winter months - I am looking for something more substantial and comforting.  A grain salad like this one fits the bill.  And don't forget goat cheese - goat cheese makes everything better.  Find the recipe HERE

Sweet Heat Mexican Hot Chocolate Brownies

These brownies are heaven.  The perfect combination of sweet and heat makes these a hit with the Sexy Mexican.  Don't be afraid..chocolate and cayenne are a perfect marriage with a hint of espresso.  These will disappear as fast you as you can make them.  Find the recipe HERE

ETC...

On my weekly coffee bingeing trip to World Market, I stumbled across these great finds.  They have me thinking of Valentines day...coming soon!

Red hot ramekins - perfect for Chocolate Lava Cakes.  Your sweetheart will thank you.  Find them HERE
