ONE OF IRELAND’S MOST BEAUTIFUL AND HISTORIC COUNTRY ESTATES HAS HIT THE MARKET

The Westport House, located in Co Mayo, Ireland was originally built in 1679 and has a rich Irish heritage. Believed to be built on the infrastructure of a castle once owned by pirate queen, Grace O’Malley, the Westport House was built by Colonel John Browne after he married Grace O’Malley’s great great granddaughter, Maud Burke. The estate has been passed down over the years to Browne Family members, descendants of the late Lord Altamont, Jeremy Ulick Browne, the 11th Marquess of Sligo and remained in the family since the 17th century. The nearly 40,000 square foot residence is situated on over 450 acres of land near the Carrowbeg River with exquisite views of the Clew Bay and the Croagh Patrick Mountain.
As it stands today, the Westport House offers ten bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a wine cellar, stained glassed windows, high ceilings throughout and intricate hand-painted wallpaper. The sale includes a five-bedroom coach house, a stable yard, farm buildings, an orchard, cottage and nine additional houses within the estate.
This historic property is one of the oldest in the country and has been open to the public for over 50 years as a popular tourist attraction containing wonderful exhibitions, a Caravan Park, the Pirate Adventure Park, Gracy’s Bar, Westport train tour, go karting, archery, indoor pottery painting and numerous other activities.
